ABOUT THIS WORK

Text by Janaina Mello Landini

From ancient times, the trees and the men's destiny always have associated in a permanent and evident way. Still, today we must ask ourselves about the future of humanity that has broken with that link. No one can ignore the increasing consequences of global deforestation in the context of a tragic perversion of man X nature relations. See the neglect of the Amazon forest by the current Brazilian government. This proposal aims to recall the archetype of the tree, one of the universal symbols most present in all mythologies, in all traditions and religions, in all protocivilizations that will necessarily persist in the collective imagination of humanity. However, the connection between heaven and earth is not seen here as in the cosmic trees, nor the darkness of Dante's forest. This Ciclotrama is an infinite and floating forest; it does not touch the ground, connects to a fabric beyond man's reach, and man's relationship. It is another time, and it is now, or the time that's about to go. * A Matupá are floating vegetation island found in floodplain lakes of the central Brazilian Amazon.
