"It is in the relationship between the one and the whole that the complexity of systems is revealed — work operates between unfolding and convergence, completing itself in the shift of perspective of those who observe them."

Series

Janaina Mello Landini’s work unfolds in series that, each in its own way, build their own visual vocabulary without losing sight of the minimal element and, from it, let complexity emerge through unfolding rather than accumulation. There is a logic there that is simultaneously mathematical, bodily, and intuitive. It is not a matter of illustrating an idea, but of letting the making itself reveal the structure.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

In Janaina Mello Landini’s work, ropes that branch out into minuscule filaments, threads that occupy entire walls, and weaves that expand from the flat plane into volume operate as devices through which the artist investigates the relationship between matter, gesture, and time.
