About

Born in São Gotardo, Minas Gerais (1974) Brazil, lives and
works in São Paulo.
Janaina graduated in Architecture in 1999 and studied
Fine Arts from 2004 to 2007, both at the Federal
University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil.
The artist's main idea is to re-signify essential aspects of
the experience of being in the world, through the optics
of dynamic flows and forces, unity and multiplicity,
mathematical abstraction and cartography, architecture,
science and nature; emphasizing the relationship between
frequency, rhythm and time, showing the infinite
interconnection of individual trajectories in a system,
in society or on the planet. Her work transits between
different scales - from the object to public spaces.
In recent years, she has shown her work in exhibitions
in Brazil, France, Netherlands, United States, among
other places. Her work is part of important private and
institutional collections, such as Museu de Arte do Rio -
MAR (Brazil), MAD Paris (French National Collection),
Fondation Carmignac (France), BIC Collection (France) and
Facebook (Menlo Park - USA), The Graeme and Mabie Briggs
Collection of Latin American Art (Australia). Her main
institutional exhibitions were at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris,
2016; at the Ch.teau de Chaumont-sur-Loire in France, 2019;
and at the 13th edition of the Bienal do Mercosul, 2022 and
